Ewing, NJ (October 5, 2015) — A broad-based coalition of New Jersey business and trade organizations will be presenting the third annual New Jersey Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards on October 13, 2015 at the MIDCED International Business Expo at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) luncheon from 12:30-2:00 PM,
The Awards program was created to recognize and honor the past and present contributions of immigrant business owners in the State of New Jersey. The awards are named for great New Jersey immigrant entrepreneurs. The 2015 winners, their businesses and their country of origin are:
2015 Immigrant Entrepreneur of the Year
Iftekhar Hossain (Bangladesh), IH Engineers – Princeton
George Perrott Macculloch Award for Leadership
Steve Sun (China), Genewiz, Inc. South Plainfield
Caspar Wistar Award for Growth
Sankalp and Trusha Trivedi ( India), Mausam – Montclair
Nicholas Marcalus Award for Sustainability
Barry Zhang (China), Princetel, Inc. – Hamilton
David Sarnoff Award for Advocacy and Community Engagement,
Erick Cedano (Dominican Republic), GraphiCore – Elizabeth
Albert Einstein Award for Innovation,
Tathiana Carrasco (Panama), Applique Technologies International,- Tinton Falls
Nominees for these awards hailed from 12 different countries, including Argentina, Bangladesh, China, South Korea, India, Lebanon, Mexico, Israel, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Panama, and Taiwan. They represented small mom and pop businesses as well as large corporations; ranging from high-tech firms to professional service providers, manufacturing operations to restaurant and financial institutions. Combined, the nominees employ hundreds of people and do millions in sales.
The judges for this year’s Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards were Jeffrey Vega, President & CEO of the Princeton Area Community Foundation, John Lau, President of Applied Info Partners and winner of the 1st annual Albert Einstein Award for Innovation, and Chandru Rajam, PhD, Vice Provost, Graduate, Professional & Continuing Education at The College of New Jersey.
